EDM 650
That this House expresses concern at President Bush's intention 'to move
beyond the constraints' of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in developing
Missile Defence; and endorses the unanimous conclusions of the Foreign
Affairs Select Committee, which recommended that the Government voice the
grave doubts about NMD in the UK, questioned whether US plans to deploy NMD
represent an appropriate response to the proliferation problems faced by the
international community; and recommended that the Government encourage the
USA to explore all ways of reducing the threat it perceives.

That this House expresses concern at President Bush's intention 'to move
beyond the constraints' of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in developing
Missile Defence; and endorses the unanimous conclusions of the Foreign
Affairs Select Committee, which recommended that the Government voice the

POLICY OF THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION ON NATIONAL MISSILE DEFENCE
27 signatures
That this House, in common with many Yorkshire people, does not share the
enthusiasm of the Leader of the Opposition and his party for the U.S.
Government's plans to use Fylingdale for the implementation of its national
missile defence system.
EDM 646
US FOREIGN AND DEFENCE POLICY
33 signatures
That this House is saddened, disappointed and alarmed that the present
United States Administration should see fit to withdraw from the
Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in order to facilitate their implementation of
the National Missile Defence System, thus compounding the offence given to
other members of the international community by their abandoning of Kyoto
and the refusal of Congress to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and
the Ottawa Agreement on anti-personnel land mines; and believes that these
actions by the now pre-summit world power do not bode well for the future of
planet earth and the human race.
EDM 639
NATIONAL MISSILE DEFENSE
20 signatures
That this House is opposed to the United States' proposed National Missile
Defense System; believes it would breach the existing ABM and non-military
space exploration treaties and lead to an escalation of nuclear dangers;
therefore calls on the British Government not to provide any facilities for
NMD; and calls upon the USA to abandon this dangerous and wasteful project.

STAR WARS CONSULTATIONS
20 signatures
That this House welcomes America's decision to consult with its allies
before proceeding with their treaty-breaking and internationally
destabilising Missile Defence Programme; and urges Her Majesty's Government
to consult the US Government in the same terms, over the removal of US spy
and navigational bases at Fylingdales and Menwith Hill, should America
decide to proceed with the Star Wars folly regardless.
