Proposed Day of Action Against War in Iraq
CND

Tony Benn has called for a day of action against a war on Iraq. He said "Non-violent resistance to the government will show they cannot claim to do this in our name. We should stop the buses, stop the trains, stop the schools".

CND is supporting this call along with the Stop the War Coalition. We are asking people to organise local actions, talk to schools, workplaces or hold a high street meeting. Contact your local churches and mosques, trade unions, student groups, teachers, hospitals, everybody.

In the evening we are asking people to hold a town centre protest. We ask people to take whatever action you feel necessary to show your opposition. Come along with your banners and show your opposition to war on Iraq in whatever way you feel is right. Make this government take notice of us. Make it colourful and noisy.

In London the action will be at Downing Street. Please let us know of your local actions and we will put the details on our website.

CND supports all non-violent action but we recognise that it is up to each individual to decide whether to take part in such actions. If that's what you want to do then please see the Trident Ploughshares Legal Support Document to see what may happen if you get arrested.
