Dear Sisters,

Menwith planning permission

Can you write a letter of objection to the following planning application - do your bit to screw up "STAR WARS"?! YES!

RE: MENWITH HILL; PLANNING APPLICATION; JETSAMS BATTERY HOUSES (2): 6.500.164.A.CROWND APPLICATION;

DATE 22ND DECEMBER 2000: OBJECTIONS TO BE SUBMITTED BY 12th JANUARY 2001

The electronic equipment in Menwith Hill Ops requires a true uninterruptable elctricity supply, which can only be supplied by batteries. the banks of batteries have to be stored in separate (UPS) buildings by order of the Health & Safety Executive, as they are US gel-cell batteries of unknown (i.e. NSA will not reveal) composition. "Jetsams" is the silly codeword for their diesel a.c. generators, which cannot be rectified smoothly enough for the equipment, but can obviously be used to re-charge the batteries!

The significance of this new development is that these batteries would be required to power the new installations. Without electricity the Space-based Infra-red System computer downlinks could not function!

When the planning application for the upgraded security fence was submitted, there were 58 letters of objection. the Planning Officer was obliged to enquire of the Government Department of the Environment, if there should be a Public Inquiry, to which the reply was that application would be refused.

So...how many letters of objection are required?

John Prescott, Deputy Prime Minister, has stated that any planning application for upgrading of Fylingdales radar station for "Star Wars" development will be subject to Public Inquiry, which could take 5 years to deliberate! I have today enquired of the Harrogate Planning office if the period for submissions of objection to the proposals will be increased as a result of the intervening Christmas/New Year period. i was informed "NO" in no uncertain terms! I was also informed that they would not accept objections by e-mail, only snail-mail:
