Re: Menwith Hill US National Security Agency Station This proposed sub-standard development, inadequately screened by a few crummy trees, will no doubt receive the usual enthusiastic approval of the Harrogate Planning Authority. Who cares about the Yorkshire Dales? Anne Lee Here are details of the new developments: 6.90.324. CROWND:
Project requirement FSC2: Emcor: (larger projects repair/construction) consisting of 3 porta-kabins, 2 storage containers, aggregate storage space, skip, 11 parking spaces, power, lights, sewer, and communications. FSC4: (grounds maintenance) consisting of 2 porta-kabins, storage lockers for grass mowers, water, sewer, landscape material, salt and gravel, communication, lights, drainage, 8 parking spaces and communication. The Station Recycling Center will be co-located and have containers for glass, paper and aluminum cans. The new secured fenced and screened-landcape compound will be split into three separate sections with low luminous lighting, power and communications. Justification: Currently these compounds are in 4 separate locations throughout the station; FSC2 is located temporarily in the barracks parking lot, building 47; FSC4 grounds maintenance is located behind Facility Engineers building 33 and across from the dog kennels, building 49.... Impact if not approved: Due to new service contracts being initiated by the Station to maintain and improve current and future maintenance requirements, the current temporary FSC contract locations are impacting adjacent residents; adding heavy traffic congestion; security and safety issues; and service response times. Current mission support is drastically hindered having these contracts throughout various locations on the Station." (The new security fence surrounding this development encloses a much larger area between Nessfield Gate and Steeplebush Gate. There are surveying posts with orange markers on them in the area surrounding SATCOM Car Park). 6.90.323. CROWND extension to library to expand facilities and provide meeting room.
