At approximately 10.13 a.m. on June 13th, I entered Menwith Hill Station through a hole which I cut in Steeplebush Gate.

It was my intention to gain access to the operations in the southern section of building 45, Steeplebush II, via the foyer entrance, to which I was making my way when arrested by PC J. Sheehan.

It was my intention to render the equipment in the Castlemaine extension inoperable, which was possible with my bare hands, because these computers would be used to control and receive information from the Space-Based Infra-Red System Satellites, shortly due to be launched.

I believe that the SBIRS satellites and downlinks are for use as part of the United States Government's plans for a Ballistic Missile Defence shield for the USA, which would be in contravention of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty of 1972, and also the Outer Space Treaty of 1967. I agree with the opinions of experts in these matters, that the development of the Ballistic Missile Defence systems poses a threat to the people of the world, as other nations would respond with retaliatory measures, and thus would escalate another arms race.

I believe that such threatening systems can be destroyed by the responsible actions of ordinary citizens such as myself.

It was also my intention to gain access to the area in the southern section of Steeplebush II occupied by the receivers and recorders for Projects Eve, Springtime and Rutley, which I believe to be an integral part of the ECHELON global network for interception of communications. In my possession I had a litre carton of orange juice with which I could have caused considerable damage to the electronic systems. I know that the ECHELON eavesdropping is in contravention of the law of the United Kingdom, and that its illegality is currently under investigation by the European Parliament. I believe that the United States uses the surveillance systems at Menwith Hill to engage in military actions in pursuit of economic objectives favourable to the USA, and that such actions kill innocent people, such as the people of Iraq and Serbia. The USA has published its intentions to dominate the earth from space in the interests of US capitalism, not in the interests of the people of the earth. Menwith Hill plays a major role in these plans.

The property I damaged and the land onto which I entered are the property of the the United Kingdom Government, held in trust for the people of this nation by the Ministry of Defence. It is an abuse of that trust to countenance unlawful acts using public property, by the government of a foreign power. I believe that my action was justified and that I had lawful excuse for my intended actions.
